ROTRING 600 Rollerball, Matte Black, Knurled + Original Cases/Insert

Offered in the listing is a ROTRING 600 ROLLERBALL pen, manufactured in Germany with a matte black finish. This highly sought-after pen is no longer in production and is a rare find. It is marked "rOtring" on the black clip, has the classic red ring band and a rotating window that shows whether a black or blue cartridge is on board. Capped there are 3/8 bands of knurling on the bottom and top. Uncapped there is a 1 band of knurling on the barrel which distinguishes it as a genuine original 600 model.

The pen has a good heft to it, and it appears the underlying metal is brass. The 600 model was introduced in 1989 and was Rotring's entry into the upscale writing instrument market after specializing in technical writing/drawing instruments for decades.

Apparently, production on the 600s ceased about 2010. Its unique hexagonal barrel was to prevent it from rolling off a table/desk.

I used it on and off, but it has been lying unused in my pen cabinet for at least 15 years. Time for it to go to a new home where someone will appreciate and hopefully use this fabulous pen.
